Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that has numerous actions in the human body, including being a very potent antioxidant, controlling cell division and regulating our immune response.

Vitamin C is a water soluble nutrient, however, our cells have a fatty membrane.  This is where liposomal vitamin C really shines as research has shown that much more vitamin C enters our cells when taken in the liposomal form.

Liposomal encapsulation technology also means that more vitamin C is able to be absorbed, meaning better effectiveness with a lower dose.

Absorption of vitamin C is dose dependent, meaning that the more you take in one dose, the lower the percentage that is actually absorbed. For example at high doses it is thought that between ½ to ⅘ of the vitamin C excreted (hence the side-effect of diarrhoea when the high ascorbic acid levels irritate the lower colon).  With many health professionals recommending doses well above 2000mg a day this can mean that most of the vitamin C is not absorbed through the gut wall or into the cells where it is needed.

This liposome technology means that it has a much higher absorption rate, with over 90% of vitamin C taken being delivered to the cells. Liposomal delivery is also shown to avoid the usual diarrhoea thresholds of ‘normal’ vitamin C, so you can take larger doses without discomfort.
